Celebrating 10 Years of Horsing Around at the Derby Day Races in Downtown Wixom

Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 2nd as Downtown Wixom proudly hosts the 10th Annual Derby Day Races at beautiful Sibley Park! What began as a fun community run has grown into one of our most beloved traditions — a family-friendly celebration filled with fitness, fun, and plenty of Derby flair.

A Race for Everyone

Whether you’re a seasoned runner, a casual jogger, or just looking for a fun morning with family and friends, there’s a race for everyone — young and old alike. Participants can choose from:

• 10K
• 5K
• 1 Mile Fun Run

No matter which race you choose, every participant will receive a Derby Day Medal, commemorative wristband, and tote bag to mark this special 10-year milestone. Be sure to register by April 5th to secure your official Derby Day Races shirt!

Racing for a Great Cause

The Wixom DDA is proud to once again support Camp Casey and its incredible mission of bringing the healing power of horses to children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

With $5 from every race registration benefiting Camp Casey, participants will help fund impactful programs like Horsey House calls and Cowboy Campouts, delivering joy, hope, and unforgettable experiences to families who need it most.

Dress to Impress — Derby Style!

What’s Derby Day without fabulous fashion? We encourage everyone to come dressed in their Derby best! The DDA will host a Best Derby Dress Contest, with winners receiving gift cards to downtown businesses. Categories include:

• Best Couple
• Best Male
• Best Female
• Best Kid
• Best Group

Break out the big hats, bold colors, bow ties, and seersucker — we can’t wait to see your Derby spirit shine! Stop by the Downtown Wixom tent to sign up, the contest will begin shortly after awards. Winners will receive gift cards to downtown businesses – one winner per category.

Stay and Celebrate Downtown

After crossing the finish line, stick around and enjoy Derby Day Specials at many Downtown Wixom businesses. It’s the perfect way to refuel, relax, and continue the celebration with friends and family. For a complete list of Derby Day Specials visit the calendar page.
