The Wixom Downtown Development Authority, along with its Design Committee, has been exploring the possible build out of what would be called the West End Commons Area. This community space would be located at 31250 Old Wixom Road, bordering Wainstock Street and Pontiac Trail. The vision for this undeveloped parcel is to become a public space that would provide activities, such as a bocce ball court and giant chess board, space for public art pieces, attractive seating areas and landscaping, along with accessible entry points from the main sidewalk.
The West End Commons Area would become an anchor to this area of downtown, while bringing visitors to businesses, complimenting the newly expanded Michigan Air Line Trail and the Junction Social District. This placemaking effort will benefit a growing community and emerging downtown, while its design brings a fresh but cohesive approach to the aesthetic of Downtown Wixom.
