On the evening of June 12th, the energy was high and the celebrations heartfelt as representatives from 29 Main Street communities across Oakland County gathered in downtown Rochester for the 2025 Main Event—the annual Main Street Awards Night. This year’s event held extra significance as it marked the 25th anniversary of Main Street Oakland County, a milestone honoring a quarter-century of community development, economic growth, and downtown revitalization.

The Wixom Downtown Development Authority (DDA) was proud to be among the many attendees celebrating this legacy of transformation, collaboration, and grassroots impact. Each year, the Main Event recognizes the dedication and creativity of Main Street communities that are working hard to enhance the vibrancy and economic vitality of their downtowns. This year, the spotlight shone especially bright on Wixom.

Out of 12 possible award categories, the Wixom DDA was nominated in 7—a remarkable achievement in itself, showcasing the organization’s far-reaching efforts, successful initiatives, and strong community partnerships.

The night was made even more memorable when Wixom DDA took home two major awards:

  • 🏆 Main Street Jubilee Award – Presented to the Wixom DDA Promotions Committee, this award recognized the team’s outstanding work in energizing the downtown with engaging events and initiatives that bring the community together and draw visitors to the heart of the city.
  • 🏆 Outstanding Partnership Award – Awarded for the Food Fight on Main: Burger Battle, a creative and collaborative event with the Lyon Twp DDA, South Lyon DDA, and Highland DDA, that united local restaurants and residents in a spirited, flavorful competition, promoting both local businesses and community spirit.

These honors are a testament to the Wixom DDA’s commitment to creating a thriving downtown where businesses can grow and people love to gather. The accolades also reflect the power of community-driven work, innovative programming, and strong partnerships between public and private sectors.

As Main Street Oakland County celebrates its 25th year, the accomplishments of communities like Wixom serve as a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people come together to invest in their downtowns. The Wixom DDA is proud to be part of this inspiring legacy—and even prouder to continue building upon it.

Congratulations to all 29 Main Street communities on their accomplishments, and to Main Street Oakland County for 25 years of impact. Here’s to the next chapter of growth, creativity, and connection!
